Stuart Hamilton Rickman

Stuart  Hamilton Rickman was born in Chatham, Kent on 11 May 1872.

He was a career soldier, serving in India and South Africa before WW1.  He was twice mentioned in despatches and was awarded the Queen’s medal.  He was promoted to the rank of Major in the Rifle Brigade in 1911.

He was mortally wounded in the Cambray Le Cateau action on 26 August 1914 and died the next day.

His father Lt Colonel Albert Divett Rickman  is buried in our cemetery.
