Thursday 2nd June from 9.30pm. Jubilee Beacon lighting. A Village rather than specifically Church event. Gabbits Copse Fields. Park on verge. Outside village down hill opposite The Long Spinney. This is part of a nationally coordinated Beacon lighting (think Lord of the Rings) Bring torch and a drink to toast Her Majesty. Beacon will be lit at 9.45pm Sharp. All welcome.
Friday 3rd June. In morning (Time TBC) The Bells of St John the Baptist will be rung during the Thanksgiving Service at St Paul’s, as part of a nationally coordinated bell ringing. NB one bell is 14th Century!
Saturday 4th June. Between 3pm and 4pm. Come and have a cup of tea at St. John the Baptist Kingston Lisie. Ring the bells, peer at the Medieval Wall paintings, and enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful Medieval church. There will be a short, non boring (10minute) talk on the history of the church at 3.30pm
Sunday 5th June 10.30am. Gabbits Copse Fields. Park on verge or walk down. Pentecost / Jubilee Service. Lasts about 50 minutes including popular hymns! Bring deckchairs, sun hats and a picnic and drinks for after. There will be some traditional children’s games (sack race, spud & spoon etc) after service. You can go as you please, after service as you may have other events to get to. All welcome, feel free to bring family and friends. Informal. It’s also Curate Andreas last service in The Benefice. If wet in Ruth Corfields Barn in Sparsholt (decision on weather taken Thursday or Friday)
